Important Safety Information
Cytotoxic drug. Handle and dispose of it according to hospital cytotoxic-waste guidelines.
Common risks with paclitaxel include low blood counts (neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, anaemia), nerve-related symptoms (numbness or tingling), hair loss, fatigue, joint and muscle pain, nausea and infusion-related reactions. Regular blood count monitoring is needed.
Tell the doctor about any liver problems, existing infections, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and all other medicines being used.
Not for use in pregnancy unless the doctor decides the benefit outweighs the risk.
Albumin-bound formulations contain human albumin, a blood derivative, which carries a remote risk of viral transmission.
Albumin-bound and conventional (solvent-based) paclitaxel are not interchangeable. Do not substitute one for the other without the oncologist's instruction.
Report any serious side effects (fever, bleeding, breathing difficulty, severe rash) to a doctor immediately.
