Description
Afadel 30mg Tablet contains Afatinib (as afatinib dimaleate, 30 mg per tablet), an anti-cancer medicine from the kinase inhibitor group. It works by blocking EGFR, HER2 and HER4 receptors that cancer cells use to grow and multiply. It is prescribed for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in adults whose tumours have certain EGFR gene mutations, and for metastatic squamous NSCLC that has progressed after platinum-based chemotherapy, as decided by the treating oncologist. It is neither a conventional chemotherapy nor an immunotherapy. It is marketed by Adley Formulations.

Directions for Use
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed by the oncologist.
Take on an empty stomach, at about the same time each day.
Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it.
Do not change the dose or stop treatment without consulting the doctor.
Important Safety Information
Common side effects include diarrhoea, skin rash or acne-like eruptions, mouth sores, nail infections, dry skin, loss of appetite and fatigue. Tell the doctor early, because severe diarrhoea or rash may need dose changes.
Rarely, it can cause serious lung problems (new or worsening cough, breathlessness, fever), liver problems, eye problems (pain, redness, light sensitivity) and severe skin reactions.
Regular liver function monitoring and review by the oncologist are part of treatment.
Do not use in pregnancy, when planning to conceive or when breastfeeding. Effective contraception is advised during treatment and for a period after it, as directed by the doctor.
Tell the doctor about all other medicines and supplements, as some can interact with afatinib.
Report any serious side effects (severe diarrhoea, breathing difficulty, severe skin reaction, yellow skin or eyes) to a doctor immediately.
